Previously, campaing maps in Total War have spanned huge countries or areas of land, but the Total War Saga's focus on one specific area and time means it's instead a more detailed, smaller area for opposing forces to fight in. Taking place in 878 AD, the game pits the rulers of Britain against each other in battles to control the country, with this spinoff title being more directly focused on those exact moments and times as opposed to the generation-spanning conflicts other Total War games have involved. The first game in this Total War spinoff series has been namedd as Total War Saga: Thrones of Brittania, telling the story of Britain's history immediately following the Norse invasions. 
It was announced earlier this year that a new series of Total War games would focus more directly on a single moment in history, called Total War Saga. The Total War series has typically been all about allowing players to take part in strategic, tactical warfare through specific eras in history.
